Unless listed and identified otherwise, terminations and conductors of circuits rated 100 amps or larger shall be rated at what? I see it as 75 degrees c. According to 110-14 c 1 4 b 1. Would I be right? Thanks!

Re: Conductors

The reference in 110.14 states 100A or LessIf you can get a copy of the UL General Information for Electrical Equipment (White or Green Book)
and read the section in the front [page 3 of the 2004 white book] on Distribution and Control Equipment terminations , it will prove quite informative.

Re: Conductors

Actually, part (b) does state rated over 100-amperes...

So yes, 75 degrees. But that does not include 100-amperes, just over 100-amperes.

Re: Conductors

Is this a test question? If so, it is badly worded. It is not clear whether the question is asking for temperature rating or amp rating or volt rating or some other rating. The article you cited speaks about terminations, not about conductors. It says that you may use (the type of termination you describe) for this type of conductor, or for that type of conductor.

A conductor can be rated at anything the manufacturer wants (and can demonstrate). The same goes for terminations. There is no requirement that a conductor or a termination ?shall be rated? at a given temperature (or any other rating). The question is badly worded specifically because it uses the phrase ?shall be rated.? What the code is telling us is not how something shall be rated, but rather how we are allowed to use components that are rated (by their manufacturers) at certain levels.

(B) I see it now I still recommend the UL information it was the basis for this parargraph.

Yes this is a test question and it is poorly worded. So I guess I was right? Thanks for the help!
