What is the code on using EMT as a EGC . Is there a NEC code stating that EMT is no longer a acceptable method as a EGC ? Or is that a Cali state code. I have been told from many different sources that EMT is no longer accepted as a EGC and that every EMT run needs its own ground ( Green ) so to speak for the last 10 years atleast. Thanks
 
I don't know about California but the NEC still accepts the emt as a ground. 358.60. Local amendments and certain applications may require a separate egc.
 
I remember coming across something about a State standard practice or such concerning just that for California because of the siesmic activity we have out here.
