I weigh 185, and I can bend a smooth radius in 1 1/4. I'll start the 90 up to the point where I have to reposition the foot pedal (for lack of a better term). Then I turn myself around so I am facing the long end of the conduit and push, instead of pull, the bender. That way I can still exert a lot of foot pressure. Kind of a balancing act, but far less effort.
just make sure you put the end of the pipe against the wall
I can bend 1 1/4 for a little while but I don't have enough back side to do it all day. I've seen some oxes that make it look easy, but none for me thanks.
Yeah, old age will do that to you.Lately though, I have switched to using prefab bends and couplings because I don't seem to be able to bend 90's without kinking.
Thanks for the compliment... I ran 1.25" conduit for about 2 months straight: data stubs out of the concrete. I got really good at bending offsets by hand with this particular tool. It took firm pressure on the shoe to keep the bend from doing the ripple.
IMO, the Ideal hand bender is the better tool compared to the others on the market. It has the foot platen that changes position when you get closer to 90 degrees.
If you are slender in the least bit, may I suggest taking the end of the conduit, away from the bender, and scooting it up against the wall to keep the conduit from sliding all over.
