Is there any exception that would permit more than 360 degrees of bends in a conduit run without using LB or a pull box?

Re: Conduit bends

Had this argument friday.Guess since i am not in charge the thing to do is wait till we run about 180 feet in 2 inch times 2 to feed sub panel and let inspector catch it.I tried my best to tell him 360 is max but he thinks it ok because it is service

Re: Conduit bends

Jim when we had Inspectors around here that thought the GEC had to be installed in conduit we had this same problem as many times the water would enter the building on the other side of the building, and this would mean many bends and or pull box's and the fact that you had to bond accross then to boot but it still was required to have the pull box's if over 360deg.

But they backed off requiring the GEC to be in conduit if it is not exposed.

Re: Conduit bends

as i read the code,,,any bend has to be added up and not to go over 360deg...................so if you have 4 90s and one straight run with a slight offset say 20degs! does this count? are just let it go? to be honest, i have never been red tagged due to the 360 rule! but then again, i haven't had any bend totals that would go 720degs either. sooo. best to you guys.

Re: Conduit bends

This job will have 3 - 90's plus 2 sets of 45 for offset
total 450 and the inspector here does count them.
Sad part is i had it all installed with a pull box to keep the bends at 270 each. Can just see the fun come Monday when we try to pull it.I would rather had 2 pulls at 270 than 1 at 450
