Next to hot tub. Is this allowed? It will be the final bend before entering spa cabinet. Its a 12' run from 50 amp gfci, through sch 40 , 1 inch pvc. Carrying 4 THWN 6 guage wires.
The body would be about 1 inch away from the bottom of the spa

Allowed, but if it is PVC take into consideration that it may be abused and broken in such a location. Being next to the spa probably introduces more issues if you go with something metallic as you would need to bond that somehow, use of something else to provide some protection may be worth consideration though.

That was my exact concern... damage.
There would be steps above, so that should take that out of the equation... unless someone yanks the steps and it catches the pvc.

It's not an issue unless you can reasonably prove that it's subject to physical damage which is highly subjective.

That fine for the raceway, fittings are what seems to break though and typically isn't heavier duty versions like there is thicker walled pipe.
Agreed, It would be a good idea to have a carpenter build some type of decorative step or towel holder, drink table etc... to protect the conduit,

One of the reasons why I prefer to manufacture the bend into the solid piece of PVC. How many time have you grabbed a stub coming out of the ground and the conduit is just flopping around?
Usually because the glue didn't take or the fitting failed.
