Conduit Chases and Cable Supports

Is there a limitation or dereating required when several conduit runs are grouped in ambient air gypboard vertical shafts inside a building? In particular, the local utility requires metering at the first level and in 30+ story high rise condos there are in excess of 300 conduit runs starting from the basement level going up and dropping off at 30+ levels.

Also, is there a minimum spacing required between the conduit runs? All runs will be 2" or 2-1/2" conduits.

I am assuming the vertical cable supports required approximately every 100' (or as listed in the code based upon wire size) are required to be accessible on the upper levels and installed in a separate pullboxes (since the units are to be sold not rented?) Comments?

Finally, is there any limitations aside from property line issues, ownership, physical space, etc routing several vertical conduit runs between common unit walls?

Re: Conduit Chases and Cable Supports

1: Derating: No...not required for raceways.
2: Raceway seperation...not required.
3: Accessibility...Yes, required if using boxes to accomplish the task. You may have to create sopme sort of fire-resistant rated access to get to the boxes from inside the walls.
4: Ownership...Shouldn't be an issue.

Ryan,
1: Derating: No...not required for raceways.
2: Raceway seperation...not required.
What about 310.15(B)(2)(b)? The CMP has stated that the intent of the spacing required in this rule is to prevent excessive heat, however the CMP has refused to provide any guidance as to how much spacing is required.

Re: Conduit Chases and Cable Supports

Hi Don. In all honesty, I can't see heat transfer through metal raceways as being that big of an issue. Seperation will occur simply by the space required to install support mecanisms (straps, uni-strut clamps, etc). Spacing is also provided at boxes in order to get locknuts on the connectors.
Perhaps I should have worded my reply a bit better. Spacing is required, but no special installation techniques need to be employed. This is only my opinion, but I do believe it is valid.
