what causes conduit chatter/vibration when a/c starts up? it is single phase, 29 amps minimum, 50 amp max breaker size, #10 thhn feeder.

The wires moving in the conduit at start up. The current can easily be 5 -6 times your FLA and that creates a magnetic field around the feeders, not just in the motor.

Large gear sometimes actually requires conductors to be secured so they will not go anywhere during a short circuit or ground fault event, because same magnetic forces are going to be very high in that kind of situation.
