Is anyone aware of metallic conduit other than silver emt? We have a customer with custom cabin with copper all over the place (i.e) trims, stairs, rails, door and window hardware, and stamped copper all over the kitchen. On the front porch they have a cedar ceiling with exposed rafters and would like some lighting installed. WM would be hideous so i was thinking of painting/staining emt unless there's something else out there. Any ideas?

I seem to recall seeing something that looked a lot like wood trim but was actually a surface wireway.

no reason you could not hide most of whatever you do somehow if you are clever about it.

lol..I thought I was the only one who would do this.. what you do is bend the conduit and fit it..then take some automotive paint color charts over to the place and match the colors to the areas desired. than take your conduit to auto body shop ( I have a friend who owns shop and he does it for me ) have them paint it and dry it in their booth, have them paint the straps as well. then take it back hang it..I laugh just thinking about it and am glad someone else would do it. The paint job will last for yrs done that way.

I thought of that but the whole "not listed" deal.
334.15(B) says that the protection method has to be "approved", does not specify that it has to be listed. I'd contact the AHJ, after confirming that you can bend it in the first place of course.

My pool fencing is not listed. Not a great pic but it's copper.

Hmmm that's interesting. What about fittings and such? I'll have to mess around with it (1/2" copper) and see. These runs would be 14ft from the floor. I'm not to worried about them getting hit. I'll call THE MAN and check it out.
