Conduit entry into Panelboard

Can source cable/conduit enter through any place in the back plane to feed the Main Breaker in the Panelboard (say 4-500 kcmil in 4" conduit to a 400A, 480V, 3 Pole Main Breaker)?
Seems NEC does not cover this aspect, though it covers conduits and panelboards.

You can start by looking at 110.3(A)(3). Then look at the radius requirements for the conductors or cable in question.

It is your bending radius you have got to watch out for.
