Conduit fill calculations

I have always included ground wires in conduit fill calculations. Am I correct in doing so?

Absolutely, they occupy space. Of course they don't count for ampacity calcs though.

They count for conduit fill because they fill the conduit. Here's the NEC reference:

Chapter 9

Notes to the Tables:
(3) Equipment grounding or bonding conductors, where in-
stalled, shall be included when calculating conduit or tub-
ing fill. The actual dimensions of the equipment ground-
ing or bonding conductor (insulated or bare) shall be used
in the calculation.
