Since I don?t have anyone to bounce information off of, you on this forum get my thoughts.

I?m getting ready to do a Service upgrade and I will be cleaning up some conduit runs. I am proposing on combining a dryer and a range circuit in one conduit. The dryer is 3 wire and the range is 3 wire as well. If I read 250.122 correctly I can use 1 EGC sized for the 40 amp circuit which is #10.

Using #10 Dryer (30 amp) #8 Range (40 amp) THHN/THWN in EMT from an outdoor panel.

Table 5
#10 THHN 3 x .0211= .0633
#8 THHN 3 x .0366 = .1098
#10 THHN EGC = .0211
Total area in2 = .1942

Table 4
At 40% fill EMT = ?? ( .213 )

Table 310.15(B)(2)
4-6 CCC 80%
#10 @ 80% = 32 amps
#8 @ 80% = 44 amps

Finally ?? EMT with 30 amp and 40 amp circuits and 1 EGC.

Re: Conduit Fill etc...

Sounds good to me. The range and the dryer are 3 wire plus a ground?

Norb, changing the circuit will mean you are going to have to change the receptacles to 4 wire and replace the pigtails on the appliances to 4 wire. "Unless your area has not adopted any new codes in the last decade or so."
