Conduit fill issue

I want to run a circuit for electric car charging from my house to my unattached garage in underground in schedule 80 pvc conduit. At 50 amps I must use # 6 Awg conductors. But since the 240 load is almost entirely balanced then must the neutral and ground be the same wire gage as the 240 volt conductors?

I was a HVAC Tech for a large manufacturing plant. 80% of my work was electrical.

From your question I can tell you aren't qualified to do this. I suggest getting a qualified electrician.

Let him look up the EGC in Table 250.122
Let him ask the inspector about the neutral
