I met a gentleman that says: that the equipment grounding conductor(s) do not count for conduit fill for the number of conductors in a conduit.
kc8dxx said:I believe people get confused between conduit fill, where the EGC matters, and derating a certain number of current-carrying conductors, where it does not.
Dennis Alwon said:I believe you got it. Interesting that for box fill the EGC only counts once. Why is that-- 4 nm cables in a box and the EGC counts one time--hum.
Pierre C Belarge said:The reason is for pulling purposes, and potential damage for too many conductors.
Probably because the EGC's don't contribute to heating; they merely take up space.Dennis Alwon said:Interesting that for box fill the EGC only counts once. Why is that-- 4 nm cables in a box and the EGC counts one time--hum.
