Conduit fit in terminal box

I have a 24” high x 24” wide x 10” deep terminal box and the job needs to install (3) 3” conduits to it.

Just looking for verification that this box size is large enough to accommodate this. 3” conduits have a 3.5” OD so I don’t see any issues myself.

There is physically enough room in the box walls to fit the raceways.

Next questions are where do they to enter, what are you pulling through them, and are they pulled through or landed on equipment inside the box?

Distance between raceway entries can be a problem depending on how you answer those questions.

Thank you. These conduits will enter either from the bottom or the side, whichever the field prefers. I am pulling multi-conductor control cables thru them with #10 being the largest. They are landed on terminal strips inside the TB.

If your conductors are smaller then 4 AWG then the distance between raceways containing same conductor is not a concern for you.

3 inch can hold quite a few 10 AWG or smaller though, and your 24x24 box can fill up fast if all your conduits are stuffed as full as you can get them, plus you have the space taken up by the terminal strips, so take all that into consideration.

Read through 314.16 on box fill for conductors smaller then 4 AWG.

Look up the , 6X Rule and 8X Rule , for straight and angled Pipe entrances .

That is times the diameter of the conduit .

Don

Those rules do not apply unless the conductors are #4 or larger. The only rules that apply where the conductors are #6 and smaller are the box volume rules in 314.16.
