Conduit in Access

[TLC Construction]

I am looking for a code aginst running conduit through Access. I am on a commercial project and the designer wants to run (2) 2" conduits throught the middle of a roof hatch opening. I belive this is aginst code but am wondering what the code is.. Please let me know

I agree with barbeer,

The NEC doen't address this issue, and I am not aware of any building code that would prohibit this. Common sense would dictate that this is a poor design, but code and common sense don't always go hand in hand.

This is mostly a building code issue as the building code requires the access to the roof to be a certain size in "clear area".
The NEC speaks of attic scuttles or hatches as to each different type of wiring but this is for protection from physical damage. If you are talking about EMT, the physical damage issue would probably not apply.

Looks like you need to install a piping curb.
