When can you run wire exposed that is less than 600 volts?
I visited a job this week that the electricians used unistrut as a raceway and a perforated angle that I have never seen before as a raceway with EMT for motor drops in an industrial facility.
Wire was free aired into disconnects and motors. Is this legal?

If it was BIG wire 1/0+ (#4+ is OK for gnds), or welding cables then single conductors can be run in cable tray if listed for use in cable trays, blah, blah, blah...

Was it something like this stuff you saw? The 2" might look like a chunk of strut from a distance.
