The National Electrical Institute Standards has a table for various sizes. All I can find in the code is "maintained".

I would not recommend some ideas here if you are installing expansion fittings or grounding bushings, particularly when using 6" O-cal or Rob Roy. :happyno:

From a practical standpoint, enough spacing to tighten couplings, fit LB's, T's, etc.
