I am designing the plans of a renovation to a building where I have to route (3) - 4" conduits (for telecom) through an existing concrete shear wall. Besides using an X-ray machine to locate the rebar in the concrete shear wall, what else should I take in consideration to do this the right way? Taking all suggestions.:D

There's plenty of design aspects exposed with Google, to say one article
isolates your situation, ah no.

You could look up some UL penatration details; hole, pipe, fire and or weather rated materials to seal it.

I would recommend to get a licensed and insured coring company to do the scanning and the penetrations.

They have the tools and the know how.

You also need to watch out for tension wires. (maybe the walls do not have tension wires, i don't know)

Has a structural engineer ok'd the coring of this shear wall?
