There is no set limit. It will be influenced mostly by your ability to sucessfully pull the sizes and types of conductors through the particular type and size of conduit. A cable pulling tension calculation is where you get the specific answer, for a specific situation.

In addition to what Charlie has said, you will want to check the engineers specifications. I have seen quite a few specs the require a j-box every 100 feet.
