Is a coupling considered a termination point?
“(A) Securely Fastened. EMT shall be securely fastened in place at least every 3 m (10 ft). In addition, each EMT run between termination points shall be securely fastened within 900 mm (3 ft) of each outlet box, junction box, device box, cabinet, conduit body, or other tubing termination.”

The wording changed somewhere around the 2002 NEC to clarify that couplings have nothing to do with the support requirements.

Regardless of the requirements, it only makes sense to place a strap next to a coupling to keep the pipe from sagging.

But then again, most of my generation never went by the bare minimums.

One on both sides of a coupling is not needed, but, one close to one side of it makes a lot of difference in the looks of a run.

If an extra strap is going to break the bank, might be time to start charging more.
