conduit troubles

Got a call to 'finish' a job that the first EC had walked...(or ran)...away from because they didn't have time to finish the job. Go Figure.

Anyway, the commercial kitchen contains a stainless steel table/sink basin that is located in the center of the room and the occupant had requested that a receptacle be installed on the opposite side of the table from where the basin is located.

The problem is that the first EC installed 1-1/4 SCH40 Conduit from the panel, under a poured concrete foundation, and it is stubbed up at the end of the table base. Why they installed 1-1/4 I have no idea.

My question is: Any ideas on terminating this conduit so 1/2 conduit can then be run up to the outlet j-box? I have considered different types of boxes, but i'm not sure it would look very 'neat and workmanlike' in the end. And what are the Code issues?

Thanks,

Jemsvcs

Re: conduit troubles

There are RE's in every configuration, and if one is not available to do the job, you can use a combination of more than one.

Re: conduit troubles

I've used reducing bushings in other situations...I just didn't want to put three for four end to end since this is out in the open and would look like...well...crap :D

If I can do it in two then i'm set.

Re: conduit troubles

The RB-324A is an aluminum fitting listed for use with RMC or IMC. I am dealing with 1-1/4 SCH40 PVC Conduit.

Re: conduit troubles

If it makes you feel better male adapter to conduit coupling to the RB.

Let me ask this, is a RMC sweep listed for use in a PVC run?

Re: conduit troubles

Hello Peter, 250.80 certainly recognizes this type of installation. (as Bob is getting at :D )

Re: conduit troubles

Ok, how about 300.12? It seems to allow a ridgid elbow to be used. All it says is that the raceway system must be continuous, not the same material.
