Does anyone know of a website I can go to find out what the difference is between conduit and tubing.

Why is Flexible Metal Conduit called conduit?

Why is Flexible Metal Tubing called tubing?

Thanks!

p.s. If you go to Allied's website, they list EMT under conduit???
is there really a difference between conduit or tubing?

Pierre,
I think it has to do with the wall thickness of the raceway. For nonflexible metallic raceways, if you can thread it, it is conduit and if not, it is tubing.

When I worked in a fab shop years ago, any pipe that was seamless, ie extruded, was called tubing.

Not sure if this applies to what you're asking.

flexible metal tubing is plemflex.
It is a flexible but sealed, metal whip used in enviromental air spaces and plenums.
In Chicago it is required for fixture whips in enviromental air spaces.

Pierre,
Look at the requried types of contruction for FMC and FMT in the respective code sections.
