We recently took over a job at a VA medical center in Massachusetts. The original electrical contractor ran fire alarm mc cable instead of what the VA spect the job to be done in conduit. The VA told them they had to rip out the mc and replace it with EMT the contractor refused and fought it and eventually won the argument by proving the mc cable was considered a conduit. Every definition I've found online on conduit does not convince me that that is true. So the million roller question here is mc cable considered to be a conduit?

. I agree, it is not a conduit or raceway. art 330.10(A)(7) states mc can be put in any raceway so I don't think MC is a raceway. It is a cable.

MC is not conduit, but it is a metal-clad wiring method suitable for use in places of public assembly. Just for fun put in a complaint under the false claims act, if they burn the previous contractor, you get a cut.

The contractors line of BS was probably the definition of FMC in 348.2 but he failed to point out 348.20(A)
