Conduits into attic

Do conduit drops from the attic to living space need to be sealed at either the top or bottom?

These conduits are for Cat 6 cabling in residential construction.

Thanks

It depends. If you were transitioning from conduit to a C condulet and a connector that would grip the cable with a rubber sealing ring the AHJ might approve it but if cable just exited the conduit if it was my house I would seal it. Have run 3/4" spare conduits from basements to attics for either power or low voltage wires and used a coupling and a plumbing threaded cap to seal conduit for the time being.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to seal them. Keep the critters out, or if there is great difference in temps between the two spaces that they terminate in.

I did the same... More for small critters (bats in particular) than heat transfer, but it's also one of those "makes home inspectors happy and less likely to spot something else" when I go to sell in however many years.
