Are you wanting it for residential or commercial?

I see that ConEst has a video on their site. It looks like a pretty good commercial program.

If you're looking for a residential program, I just received a video link for the program that I use in an e-mail today. Check it out if you want to but be prepared, the video is pretty long.

Mine arrived on Monday. I paid $2295 for the Lite version which includes the first year of service, upgrades, etc... Still learning it (of course) and I hope to have a handle on it soon enough. I think this will be a good tool (for me anyway).

We just purchased the Intellibid Pro program and the T&M Billing manager. Came out to about $5000. I will say I am pretty impressed with the program though I haven't used it much, it just arrived last week.

We just purchased the program (TurboBid) that you provided the link to. Still learning how to use it but I've gotta say, so far I'm impressed. It's user friendly, intuitive, customizeable and has some great boilerplate that you can insert in your bids (you can also insert your own, if you like). Last but not least, I've been using computers since wayback (my first was a Vic 20) and I've never encountered better customer support than this company provides. And I do mean never. A+. Do yourself a favor and try it out, they offer a free 30 day trial. BTW, I have no affiliation with the company other than being a very satisfied customer.

Sorry, wrong. I'm a licensed S. CA EC (also engineering and GC) 30 years in the trades. Based in Long Beach, CA. The program in question is out of Chicago, IL. I just believe when someone provides quality product for a fair price, it should be acknowledged.

Sorry for the Spam comment, you just sounded like a used car sales man. I checked the program out, seemed ok, unbelievably slow demo which locked my computer up. So how much is it?

They're offering it "to build grass roots acceptance" for $300.00. When I compare that to the prices I've seen quoted for some of the other programs mentioned on this thread, I'd have to say that's a fair bit of "bang for the buck". Perhaps that would account for my enthusiasm, as I'm notoriously careful with how I spend my money. BTW, I promise I'll never try to sell you a car, used or new.

That's a good price, thanks for the info. Now I sound like a used cars saleman. Hey we could be a team. I checked the EBM residential estimator, it's pretty nice but it is about $1,000.00. It also will not work on a computer that has their normal estimating software installed. I also checked out intellibids demo disk, it looks very good.

P.S
Can you change and add assemblies on Turbo Bid?

Sure can. That's what I'm spending most of my day today doing. CA has a thing called CEC Title 24, which, as of the first of this year requires that all kitchen and bathroom lighting be "high efficacy". This means at least 40 lumens per Watt. What it really means is they're trying to phase out incandescent lighting altogether. No screw shell lampholders either, as they know ASA the inspector leaves, out go the screw-in flourescents and in go the ol' fashioned edison filament lamps. So, I'm adding the appropriate housings, luminaires and lamps where needed. Also PV components. It's a pretty straightforward process once you have component names, prices and UPC codes.

I have Conest and have for years. Looks like George is selling the software like hotcakes. Besides being a great guy he has a good program and good people.

I remember Mr. Hague giving me private lessons on the program in his hotel room in Dallas, Texas some 14 years ago. His company is staffed by great people, you can't go wrong with their software.

Hi, Francis, has it been cold up there?

Conest

Conest

Conest has been my choice for the last year and a half. The assemblies are complete and makes it so easy to build a professional estimate that you can stand behind. The learning curve is acceptable. I would say no more than any other serious computer program. The more you use it the easier it gets. I find that I use it for residential and commerical projects. Big or small if I want to make sure that I have everything covered I use the Conest program. Same thing with the financial side. It took some time to learn all the nuances of Quickbooks Premire. But now that I have that mastered life is so much easier. The T/M program was interesting to me. I almost brought it last fall in Boston at the Conest convention. It is expensive, but I quess it is a trade off for time spent in the office.

David, Good to hear from you! Been in the 50's lately. Waiting for some of that warmth that has been baking Europe to come this way.

I never saw this thread, so I'm sorry to breath life back into it...but, why would someone include the word 'Con" in anything they are trying to sell? Just out of curiousity, has anyone paid for this and not recieved anything? :D

Con is probably short for "contractor" thereby an estimating program called ConEst. Trouble with naming software for sale to the public is that due to the mountain of shareware and freeware out there, it gets pretty difficult for software vendors to come up with names that are not registered to somebody else.
