If running new pipe from existing panelboard there's a chance( no matter the size) ko's may not be there and you would need drill your own knockout? Thanks

Yes, you would drill the back box/enclosure to install your new conduit.

I always specified panel enclosures without knockouts....the factory KOs often require offsets in the conduit to mate up with the supports. The field holes put the conduits where you want them.

And if drilling/punching in your own conduit like say a 2” you have the pesty1/2” KO’s to work around. Although it’s still doable can be a pain in the butt.
