Hi, I have a 7.5kw portable generator. Last year I was out of power for nearly 3 months and almost 4 months total for the year.

Next hurricane I was planning on taking the meter off the house and connecting 2 110 outlets from the generator directly to the house wires. via 8ga wires.
But realized today the generator only has 1 110 outlet and one 220 outlet.

Is there anyway to hookup the 220 outlet to the house lines via the meter location?

I know a transfer switch is required by code. but I am not worried about feedback into the lines if the meter is off.

Thanks guys

I don't think you'll find much sympathy here asking for advice on how to do a sleaze job.

Most of what you are suggesting is not only against the NEC but could possibly be against the law.

We take the connection of optional standby systems very seriously here in Florida. More people died over the last two years from improper use and connection of generators than from the hurricanes themselves.

We have very little tolerance for illegal removal of the utility meter and improper connection of generators to premise wiring.

Not that I doubt you, but do you have any kind of cite on this statement?

Ditto all previous posts. DO NOT DO THIS. A manual transfer switch from Sq. D only costs about $75.00. A funeral is much more expensive.
