Connecting an RTU and MAU to an Ansul sustem,

Ansul system has plenty of contacts within it, can fit a #12 wire under each one, but the RTU I am running is in #8's. The RTU is a new kind with an inbuilt GFI recep, (love this) my question is if anyone knows if these new RTUs just have a control wire that runs to the Ansul and thats what shuts it off, or do I need to set up a separate contactor for the #8's and have the solenoid for that controlled off the Ansul.

Typically the ansul system only has 20A contacts so is sending control wires to a RTU for a remote shut down. I have also seen kitchen control panels (Greenheck model KFCC) that interface the MAU, RTU, ansul, etc.

An excerpt from the Ansul installation manual:

UL/cUL/CSA Rating
250 VAC, 21A Resistive
250 VAC, 2 HP
125 VAC, 1 HP

ENEC Rating
IE4T105μ Approved
250V, 21A Resistive
8A Motor Load

I doubt the switch will handle the load those #8's are meant to carry, unless they are over specified.

The RTU should have a jumper that is typically removed and a dry contact from the fire alarm panel is connected across it. I would use this point and install the dry contact from the ansul system in series with the FACP contact. You would need to use a NC contact to interlock the fire alarm safety. circuit.
