CONNECTION TO OUTSIDE UTILITY PROVIDER

I am Arvin Villavicencio of CIP II Power Corporation, a generation and distribution company in a small industrial park here in the Philippines.

I decided to write and inquire here.

Currently, we have a power plant with 4 generator sets (2x3.5MW and 2x7MW) totalling 21MW capacity. We are also in island mode right now. We generate voltage of 13.8kV, distribute it through a substation, and goes to locators and eventually step-down the voltage to whatever requirement of the customer.

We are also currently discussing to be connected to an outside power provider, specifically a local utlility provider. I just want to inquire if this is possible and are there any implications in doing this? If possible, can I request for a detailed process?

Would appreciate if you could help me on this one.

Re: CONNECTION TO OUTSIDE UTILITY PROVIDER

This question is mostly out of the scope of this Forum, however there are some very knowledgeable utility engineers here that may be able to direct you in the right direction.

I would imagine that there would be some serious regulatory issues and perhaps coordination issues that would present major hurdles for you. Good Luck.
