Looking for a ground fault, found the tamper switch flying leads were short to ground (internally bad)

Why would you use a LB, a handy box and cover is cheaper when buying in bulk I would think.

This is a violation(right?), please remind me which section. Is it just 314.16(C) or is there another? It was not stamped.

Its about 8 leads from the switch and one 16/2.

A splice in an LB is legal as long as it does not exceed the capacity and a box would need to be supported. My code book is the truck but I'm sure somebody has the article off the top of their head.:)

You're correct on the code 314.16 (C)(2). No markings is a violation. Not a violation to use a suitable fitting.
