Hi,

I have a disconnect with bus bars that have a hole pattern that isn't the standard 4 hole nema. I want to mount single stranded conductors to this bus.

It is the following:

1.5 inch center to center distance.
.55 inch square holes.

All the lugs that I see use either the 1-3/8 hole spacing for or 1-3/4 hole spacing.

What should I do? Do I need to order custom lugs from the manufacturer?

The square hole are probably for a bolts with a rounded head and square shoulders, similar to a carriage bolt where the square hole combined with the square shoulder on the bolt mean you only need a wrench for the nut.

I prefer two as well but it's not a requirement. If a suitable listed single hole lug is made it can be used. The contact area will be determined by the size of the conductors.
Wht are the requirements for using holes? If there are 2 or 4, do you have to use all of them? I've read documents on mounting pressure vs conductivity and it's logarithmic so I can calculate what are the actual requirements but just wondering about the rules and regulations

Yes.

The two hole arrangement is often used to keep the lug from twisting during installation and fault conditions.
