This man fell on an 1 1/2" Auger bit from a 6 foot ladder. He lost his balance, threw the drill down, and then fell on top of it. OUCH!

This man is lucky to be alive, and now he faces thousands of dollare in medical bills that he is responsible for.

If you read the article, you will note that he has no insurance to cover the accident, as he was a sub-contractor on the job.

This underscores the need to carry adequate insurance at all times, regardless of who you are working for and when you are working, or at least verify that insurance is in place for you on every job.

We had an inspector in our state have something fairly similiar happen to him. He jumped into a trench to look at something and didn't see a ground rod. The ground (and clamp!) entered between his legs. They found a piece of material from his pants 18" into his chest! From what I understand he didn't have any serious injuries.
