I'm at a job where they have a const trailer w/ a 125A panel that is to be fed from a building 200ft. away from that bld's 400A MDP.My question is can the trailers panel be grounded w/ a conductor from the MDP's ground bus or can you just run the 2 hots w/ neutral from MDP and ground the trailer panel w/a ground rod at the trailer, or both?

First off no matter if you bring and EGC or not to the trailer 250.32(A) requires a grounding electrode system to be installed and connected to the grounding bus of the trailers panel.

Normally I would agree with BPHGravity that 250.32(B) gives you both those options, however in the case of a job trailer I have never seen one that was not set up for 2 hots, 1 Neutral, 1 EGC.

We run a feeder with an EGC to the trailer from the supply source per 250.32(B)(1) and we install two ground rods at the trailer per 250.32(A) and 250.56.
