contactor coil fed by seperate panel.

I spent the morning scouring my nec book to no avail. Is there any reason a contactor's coil cannot be fed by a seperate sub panel than the actual load is fed by?

No problem that I know of, but, take 430.75 into account.
You will probably need a disconnecting means. We often use a microswitch accessory available for most safety switches/combination starter switches.
