I'm doing a bid on a commercial kitchen. I didn't get to call the supply house in time today. I would like to have this bid before Monday.

My question is, what should I expect to pay for a 40 amp contactor and a 60 amp one?

I might have to use LV as the control circuit depending on the Ansul Fire Suppression system

Or what should I expect to pay for a 40 and 60 2 pole single phase 240 v shunt trip breaker?

Which would you use? Breaker or contactor? I've used both in the past.

Somebody has started the job then left after pulling the circuits. So the circuits have already been run and ceiling closed up.

The micro switches in the ANSUL AutoMan control box can handle about 20 amps at either 125 or 250 vac.

I'd use a contactor myself. You don't have to worry about how many spaces are left in the panel, and if you set it up to pull in when energized, you wind up with a fail safe condition. Something wrong with the circuit? Make up air doesn't run. With a shunt trip, you're never sure if you have power available at the coil unless you adopt a fancy monitoring scheme involving the building fire alarm system.

Thanks. What are they a couple hundred dollars for a general use 40 amp and 60 amp contactor 240V single phase? Or should I get one with four poles on it?
