sounds very general and lame but i am hungry. i am a younger electrician who wishes to learn as much as i can and be as good as i can. online courses, reccomended reading, certificate programs, accreditation, study guides, anything you suggest. i really would like to be the best electrician "I" can be.

Re: continuing education

"Electrical Wiring Residential" & "Electrical Wiring Commericial" by Ray Mullin are excellent text books. They are easy to find on the net. Start with the residential book.

Re: continuing education

Hey Rick,

I work for the Electrical Council of Florida. Our home office is Sarasota. We provide an apprenticeship program and continuing education courses throughout the year. Go here for informtion: ECF home page

Other than that, the Forum and the other services provided by Mike Holt Enterprises is extensive. There are hours of archived newsletters and web articles not to mention the Forum archives. I also find http://www.redvector.com/ has some good online courses you can take.

Re: continuing education

i appreciate both responses. i actually have both of the mullin books allready as well as tons of njatc books i got off of my old roomie from back in pittsburgh who was going through union apprenticeship.

im checking out the ecf site as i type.

its funny because all of the supervisors at my shop think im a dork for reading the codebook etc...but its also funny because they call me all day for code questions... i guess trying to be good at what you do makes you a dork now a days.
