(C) Continuous
Except as provided in 250.30(A)(5) and (A)(6), 250.30(B)(1), and 250.68(C), grounding electrode conductor(s) shall be installed in one continuous length without a splice or joint. If necessary, splices or connections shall be made as permitted in the following:

1. Splicing of the wire-type grounding electrode conductor shall be permitted only by irreversible compression-type connectors listed as grounding and bonding equipment or by the exothermic welding process.

( I was gonna splice with irreversible crimp which is one of the ways permitted) however am I allowed to do so. Or does it have to meet one of the exceptions. For me to splice? Or can I splice anytime with irreversible crimp

So this is a GEC that you're splicing? If so it can be spliced with an irreversible type connector or cadwelded.

So what your saying is as long as its irreversible I can splice anytime and I meet code. Yes it is a GEC

And if the First Draft of the 2026 stands, you will be able to splice in in an accessible location using any of the methods in 250.8.
