What is the most preferred lamping for a 2'x2' fluorescent troffer by contractors? Why?

Straight lamps are easiest to stock but low output. U-lamps are bulky. T5 & CF have strong lumens output but expensive, etc.

Does engineers and owners differ on their preference?

I believe it all depends on the application, that being said at my office we always try to sitck to straight lamps, if possible and to try to minimize the lamp cost, and minimize the number of different kinds of lamps the maintenance staff must keep track of, it the situtation calls for a higher lighting level with more footcandles and you are crunched for space sometimes straight lamps will not work, however I would refrain from putting one or two of these in a project and making the facilities people stock only a couple of these lamps and I would try to find a different alternetative. That always seems to be the biggest facilites complaint when most jobs are finished are how many different lamps they need to stock, espically if there is only one or two of these fixtures with u-bent or cf lamps on a large campus.
