They can be a pain to work on.
They use all the devices that are enclosed in its own fittings. I wanted to say box. But it is not a box. It is just all made in to one with the device and all.
 
I'm not sure where you're located, but here in California, mobile or manufactured homes are regulated & inspected by the CA Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

I helped organize a group that fixed up a mobile home for a retiring minister. The home had aluminum wiring, so we rewired from underneath the trailer in romex. We assumed the NEC would apply.

Wrong! The inspector made us rewire the underside in conduit, as the CA code required the wiring be protected against damage should the home be moved. What a pain! The original permit was $399 and the re-inspect was $196 (almost $600 for a 1200 ft home)

They do that here , too. And I am 2700 miles away east just off of I-40

New 200 amp panel was mounted on the exterior of mobile home/park model in Havasu Arizona. Local inspector said State of Arizona Office of Manufactured Housing needed to issue a permit and inspect the change. When contacted AOMH said not their jurisdiction. Can't find any information pro or con in NEC. Any one have information that may apply?
 
We never mount the panel on the mobile home. We or the mobile home park sets a pole about ten feet away. Their we mount a 200 amp meter base combo feed through panel.
If the MH has a 200 or 100 amp panel we then bury the suitable wire (direct bury) and come straight up to the inside panel. Useing Sch 80 pvc

We installed a 200 amp underground feed pedestal two feet away from the mobile home, then ran 2" liquid tight to the existing 200 amp RT panel mounted on the mobile home. The inspector issured a letter of violation to the home owner and not to us on our installation. The home owner asked for our assistance in clearing up the matter. State of Arizona Office of Manufactured Housing says no permit is needed from their office for modifications made to a mobile and directed us to AHJ, however the AHJ, (the city) says it's not their jurisdiction because it's manufactured housing. Lots of buck passing going on, but it doesn't solve the problem.
 
get it in writing from both agencies. if available, pay a third party inspector if you want to cya. take pics. put the stuff in a file in case you ever get served.
 
Here we need permit from county for everything connecting a mobile panel from its main breaker to the poco.The mobile itself is not inspected other than to see if it is correct at the panel.Now if we add any structures attached to the mobile then they inspect.

What exactly did the inspector say they violated ? If it's not under his title why is he saying anything ?
