Control circuits on transfer switches

Do the control wires and circuits from the transfer switch to the generator comply with NEC 2011 725.121 and 725.136. Some require separate conduits to generators and others don't. Has anyone come across this problem?

300.3(C) allows it but the main factor would be the mfg. instructions. It mainly depends on the generator. The small residential units are using voltage sensing for the start cycle. Some of the larger units are a 2 wire start which is nothing more than a relay closing.
