Control Engineer Safety Issue

I have a 120VAC feed going to a terminal strip in a junction box. The Control Engineer INSISTS that the 120VAC wire on the terminal block be called 24VDC Power Supply. This sounds like a safety issue to me. Does anyone know of a code NEC or OSHA ect. that prohibits this? I understand the to/from wire numbering that some of the younger engineers want. However in my 40 years of doing this you NEVER call a 120VAC wire 24VDC.

it is the power supply to the 24VDC power supply.

I don't see how it is a safety issue. It will be red so everyone will know it is AC.

Wire tag identification is not called out in the NEC at all. It has to make sense though and I agree with you, that is basically asking for trouble, especially to someone not properly trained to recognize the meanings of wire colors. Give the power supply a number, such as “PS1”, then use PS1 in the wire tag.

If you are still upset by this, maybe the engineer will compromise on a label reading "To 24VDC Power Supply"
Personally I don't think that a Controls engineer should have any say in 120VAC systems. They are simply not qualified. There PE cannot be used on a power drawing

Yep. Number everything.
