What is the minimum required working space for controls on a furnace.
I was told that it is only 12" of working space from a wall.
Good luck trying to change a controller after the wall is up!!

The minimum 3' working space only applies to things likely to require servicing, inspection, etc. while hot (I'm paraphrasing what I remember). I'm not sure the furnace contols would apply. If thats the case, then there would be no minimum distance. Also, for low voltage controls, the AHJ can allow less than the required 3' (paraphrasing again).
