I need time clock control of 18 120V 1HP fan motors. I would normally feed each one from a 30A CB and use a 1HP rated manual motor starter with overloads at the motor. Since I need time clock control, I'm thinking of adding six 3 pole magnetic contactors with 120V coils controlled by the time clock. The contactors would be in sight of lockable CB's at the panel.
Do you think this is a violation of 430.87 "Number of Motors Served By Each Controller?" There is only one motor connected per pole, which I believe to be the intention of this article. But there are 3 poles/3 motors per contactor.
I'd hate to install 18 combination starters...
