Convenience Outlets and Convenience Receptacles

I'm working on a glossary and need proper (and documentable) definitions for "convenience outlets" and "convenience receptacles". It seems outlets can include boxes, etc. (wiring points). Some sources seems to define a convenience outlet as being located in something that's connected to a branch circuit. The index in the 2008 and 2005 Handbooks for "Convenience Outlets" says "see Receptacles" but there's nothing under "Receptacles".
What am I missing?

Have you looked at the Article 100 definitions?

That's where I started. And I checked 210, 314 et al. Did I miss something?

My electronic search shows that the term "convenience outlet" only shows up in the index and in 552.59(A).
