Hello,

I just want to have a good discussion about one of the topics which i think many designer or engineers at some point will be asking themselves this question...

Which conductors are good for installation in Underground and Overhead?Copper or Aluminium...And why?

Not sure of what kind of discussion you want, but, both types are good for installation.
I plan review the commercial electrical one lines. I get a mix.
Some engineers are adamant about copper only, some provide copper or aluminum & some, just aluminum.

Other then load capacity the connection points are the main thing,
Although if the insulation on URD AL gets nicked. It's likely to corrode in that spot.

I want to see why some engineers or designers prefer copper over AL or vice versa...What factors do they take into when they finalize between CU and AL both in overhead and underground installations...

Arent URD used in more of like residential distribution systems for voltages maybe <600v? What about for medium or high voltage systems? Yes once the insulation is damaged its going to get corroded...

if it is dedicated in the project specs, there's nothing we can do but do what the specs requires.. hihi
