Cord & plug is the normal way for gas furnaces these parts, one of those practices that are not code compliant.
It's one of those things that if you know a unit doesn't specifically allow it to be cord and plug connected, you shouldn't do it.
and,
If it happens to be your personal furnace that was wired cord and plugged connected before you purchased the house, will probably never give you any trouble, until you open up the door after reading this post to see.
