Cord Connected Splice in Appliance

I have a cord-connected range hood that is made for an island. I installed a receptacle in the attic for it but of course the cord is 10 inches too short.

In looming for a fix I considered the best option would be a 2 foot long extension cord, but that’s not code. I considered replacing the cord with a longer one, but the manufacturer has sealed it. So, a splice?

I asked my inspector. He says I should use a rack-a-tiers open splice box in the chase.

Is this a good solution? Got a better one?

Thanks!

Where is the sealed connection for the pigtail? At the top of the hood right where it goes into the attic?

Can you not just junction and extend the circuit wiring closer to the hood in the attic? Or does the pigtail not even make it into the attic?
