cord connected three phase motors

Can anyone clear up a difference of opinion on this?

A motor circuit consists of a 3PH 480V manual starter, fed A-B-C left to right, through an attachment cap and plug, A-B-C: X-Y-Z, and to the
motor A-B-C:T1-T2-T3, for standard rotation.

For opposite standard rotation, is it best to swap leads at the motor or at the plug? These are my only choices, as units may have different rotation because of mechanical design, and must be interchangeable.

Re: cord connected three phase motors

I would be inclined to make the switch inside the attachment plug and label it if it is wired for reverse operation.

To me it doesn't matter. But I believe that the recepacle or recepacles where your at should be wired all the same. Get a phase tester and have all the recepacles wired the same. Then if you need to plug it in a different location the rotation will be correct. Also if you get more items with cord and plug on them you will be setup anywhere you go in your location.
