Cord drop and transformers

I'm installing a machine that requires 400Y as its power source. The distribution system in our plant is 480 delta. Machines around here are frequently moved, and we have started running cord drops to machines to facilitate moving them.

I want to permanently install a 30KVA 480 delta / 400Y transformer on the machine to supply it, and feed the transformer with a 480V cord drop. The cord drop will have a utilization plug on the end of it, and I will install a cord on the transformer and plug it into the cord drop. The cord drop is fed from a fused bus plug.

Does anyone see any issues with this? Can I use the grounding conductor in the cord as my equipment ground via the cord cap? I'm not sure that this falls under the requirements of a seperately derived system as it does not supply a premisies wiring system (art. 100), it only supplies power directly to the machine.

I'll appreciate any and all contsructive feedback.

Thanks!
