Does Article 400 allow the use of SO or other approved cord to feed retail gondola receptacles from above? Does there have to be a twist lock plug between the receptacle and cord drop or can the cord run right into the J-box to be hardwired within the gondola? Also as a separate question, would it be allowed if fed from a busway under 368.56 (B)? I understand if used, proper support and strain relief would be required.

Thanks,

AFAICT your application is permitted under 400.7(A)(6) facilitation of frequent interchange. A plug, twist-lock or otherwise is not explicitly required. However, I'm thinking if the cord is hard-wired both at top and bottom, it's somewhat indicates the use of cord is not to facilitate frequent interchange.
